On May 10, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Smart Policing Initiative (SPI) will present a webinar on “New Findings in SPI.” Since SPI began in 2009, more than 50 SPI projects have been funded to test and evaluate evidence-based policing tactics and strategies. This webinar will feature four SPI sites—Boston, Massachusetts; Cambridge, Massachusetts; Los Angeles, California; and Rochester, New York—that recently completed their evaluation research.

New Findings in the Smart Policing Initiative

Submit your nominations for the National Criminal Justice Association’s (NCJA) annual NCJA Outstanding Criminal Justice Programs (OCJP) Awards by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, April 21. The awards will be announced at the 2017 National Forum on Criminal Justice, which will honor five outstanding programs that provided effective services to address crime-related issues in their communities and showcase promising practices in criminal justice.

Pharmaceutical Crime - Tools for the Street (May 2017)

This course is for the street patrol officers/new detectives who need to understand the scope of the problem, the types of crimes that may be encountered, how to respond to the scene, awareness of associated evidence, interview techniques, and documentation to further an investigation for a successful prosecution.

Pharmaceutical Crime - Advanced Investigative Techniques (AL - May 2017)

This course is for the detective who is assigned to a pharmaceutical crime unit or investigation. This course will address the crimes associated with pharmaceutical drug diversion, criminal methods, investigative techniques, evidence collection, and the importance of involving a prosecutor at the onset to prepare the case for successful prosecution.
