    BJA NTTAC Provides Crime Analysis Resources to Taos, New Mexico Police Department

    June 25, 2014

    BJA NTTAC is offering resources to the Taos, NM Police Department (TPD) to facilitate training and technical assistance (TTA) in the delivery of Crime Analysis on Demand resources. BJA NTTAC has funded the Crime Mapping and Analysis Program at Washington College in Maryland. The program staff at Washington College will perform a needs assessment in the Taos area. As part of the needs assessment, the staff met with Taos law enforcement agencies and local government officials in early June.

    Register for IACA’s Crime Analysis Symposium for Law Enforcement Executives

    The International Association of Crime Analysts’ Advancing Policing Through Innovation & Science: A Crime Analysis Symposium for Law Enforcement Leaders will provide law enforcement executives with the tools to incorporate crime analysis and evidence-based policing into their everyday practices. The symposium is co-sponsored by The Police Foundation and will take place on July 16, 2014 at the Microsoft Conference Facility in Cambridge, Mass.

    BJA Publication Highlights Evidence-Based Strategies for Working with Offenders

    The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), in partnership with the Center for Court Innovation, released a publication titled Evidenced-Based Strategies for Working with Offenders. The publication distills a growing body of research about evidence-based strategies in five areas for reducing recidivism among criminal offenders: assessment, treatment, deterrence, procedural justice, and collaboration.
