Women's Leadership Institute (WLI) Courses

The Institute will kick off with registration, a welcome reception and introductions on Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. From there, the Institute will run each day from Monday - Friday, beginning at 7:45 a.m. with a networking breakfast. Most days, the Institute will get out each day between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., depending on the activities of the day. Friday, however, the Institute will finish by 1:00 p.m.  In addition, there is a Thursday evening plated panel dinner with guest panel members, which will take place from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. 

Women's Leadership Intitute (WLI) Critical Incident Management

This course is designed to help supervisors and commanders prepare for critical incidents by increasing their knowledge of: related training issues, key leadership principles and legal concepts, deployment of small teams, and incident management prior to the arrival of specialized resources.  Successful critical incident management requires the ability to apply critical thinking in a timely manner, while making safe and effective decisions in highly stressful and rapidly evolving operational environments.

Enhancing Law Enforcement Response to Violence Against Women (June 2016, AL)

The IACP’s onsite training and technical assistance for law enforcement agencies offers agencies across the country hands-on, direct interactions with experts, in order to prioritize violence against women department-wide and formulate plans to create the needed culture change to properly respond to and investigate these crimes.

About the Training

This training is made possible through funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. The three-day class offers basic, entry-level training to sworn officers newly assigned to work with street gangs or those with limited experience and/or no formal training in street gang investigations.
