Justice Reinvestment Initiative Webinar - The Cost-Benefit Analysis for Reducing Recidivism

Thursday May 19, 2016 - 02:00pm to 03:00pm EDT
Event Description:

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (NTTAC) is hosting a webinar on a cost-benefit analysis model for the criminal justice community. All interested criminal justice professionals are encouraged to participate.

As part of the Justice Reinvestment Initiative, Michael Wilson Consulting created a cost-benefit analysis model to examine programs and policies designed to reduce recidivism. This model uses state and county-specific data to approximate the costs of crime in a given jurisdiction and estimate the monetary benefits of crime reduction. The tool was provided to two counties in Pennsylvania as a trial to help build local capacity to conduct comprehensive cost-benefit analysis for local jurisdictions.

<span "="">In this webinar, Michael Wilson will present the tool to the larger criminal justice community and provide an overview of the work completed in Johnson and Allegheny Counties (PA). Mr. Wilson will be joined by a representative from Allegheny County, who will share the county’s experience in the process and how it plans to use the cost-benefit analysis model to shape policy and practice.
