FY 2018 Enhanced Collaborative Model Task Force to Combat Human Trafficking: Pre-Application Webinar

This webinar will provide information about the purpose, scope, and requirements of the Office for Victims of Crime/Bureau of Justice Assistance Enhanced Collaborative Model Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force program and will provide information to applicants on how to apply for funding.

The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) awarded more than $47 million in grant funding to investigate and prosecute human trafficking; support experienced providers in offering victim services; and strengthen community response to the sexual exploitation and forced labor of victims.

The grants were awarded under nine OJP fiscal year 2017 programs, including:

During this webinar, participants will learn about the components of Safe Harbor laws, which work to ensure that minors involved in domestic sex trafficking are treated as victims, not as offenders.

Efforts to protect children identified as victims of domestic sex trafficking have gained momentum as a number of states have developed protective legislation often referred to as “Safe Harbor” laws, which aim to ensure identified youth are treated as victims not offenders. Hosted by the Justice Clearinghouse, this webinar will present statutory, policy-based, and practice-oriented approaches to improving the response to child sex trafficking victims.

On Thursday, September 24, Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch announced that the Department of Justice (DOJ) awarded $44 million in funding to help communities fight human trafficking.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking applications for the National Training and Technical Assistance: Anti-Human Trafficking Training for Law Enforcement Prosecutors Program. The purpose of this competitive funding announcement is to select a provider to deliver nationwide, anti-human trafficking training and technical assistance (TTA) services to law enforcement agencies as well as state prosecutors who are increasingly seeing human trafficking cases but are unprepared to work with victims and/or prosecute the crime.
