Advanced Topics in Criminal Defense for Utah Defenders

The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) will provide a two-day training program for public defense providers in Utah, at the Brigham Young University (BYU) Law School in Provo, Utah, on July 13-14, 2017. Topics will include false confessions, eyewitness identification, performance standards, pseudoscience, immigration, and more.

The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) recently released its report Policing Body Cameras: Policies and Practices to Safeguard the Rights of the Accused. The report outlined NACDL's position on the introduction and use of body cameras by law enforcement. This webinar will walk through the recommendations and talk about how to negotiate stronger body camera policies in your jurisdiction, the technical aspects of body cameras, and strategies and tactics for defending clients in body camera jurisdictions.

Efforts to protect children identified as victims of domestic sex trafficking have gained momentum as a number of states have developed protective legislation often referred to as “Safe Harbor” laws, which aim to ensure identified youth are treated as victims not offenders.
