Monday Dec 04, 2017 - 03:00pm to 04:00pm EST
Event Description:

Disproportionate minority contact (DMC) remains a major issue within the juvenile justice system. The Sentencing Project has undertaken new research on the issue of DMC to discover the rate at which youth of color are incarcerated as compared to their white peers. Their new findings show that African-American youth are five times more likely to be incarcerated than white youth, while Native-American youth are three times more likely to be incarcerated than white youth. Latino youth, meanwhile, are 65 percent more likely to be held in detention. Join the Coalition for Juvenile Justice as they delve into their recent research findings and discuss potential solutions to this ongoing problem.
