National Forum on Criminal Justice (July - Aug 2017)

Sponsored by the National Criminal Justice Association, the Justice Research and Statistics Association, and the IJIS Institute, the National Forum on Criminal Justice showcases programs, research, and technologies that help justice practitioners and decisionmakers in states, local communities, and tribal nations address pressing public safety issues. It is the only criminal justice conference that brings together leaders from federal, state, local, and tribal government and the public and private sector to share real world strategies and solutions from around the country.

Submit your nominations for the National Criminal Justice Association’s (NCJA) annual NCJA Outstanding Criminal Justice Programs (OCJP) Awards by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, April 21. The awards will be announced at the 2017 National Forum on Criminal Justice, which will honor five outstanding programs that provided effective services to address crime-related issues in their communities and showcase promising practices in criminal justice.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) is excited to announce the release of the spring 2017 edition of the BJA Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Provider Directory. This free, easy-to-use, downloadable guide enables BJA staff, BJA TTA providers, and the criminal justice field to access key information on BJA TTA providers with a wealth of criminal justice knowledge and experience.

Onsite Training - 2017 Comprehensive Gang Model Workshop

Training on the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Comprehensive Gang Model will be offered by the National Gang Center (NGC) on June 13–15, 2017, in Denver, Colorado. The training is free; however, all other costs will be the responsibility of the participants (e.g., travel, meals, lodging, and transportation).

Advanced Topics in Criminal Defense for Utah Defenders

The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) will provide a two-day training program for public defense providers in Utah, at the Brigham Young University (BYU) Law School in Provo, Utah, on July 13-14, 2017. Topics will include false confessions, eyewitness identification, performance standards, pseudoscience, immigration, and more.
