In this webinar, law enforcement professionals and child trauma experts team up to provide law enforcement professionals with useful guidance regarding the challenging task of death notification involving children. Key steps that should be taken will be reviewed and frequent challenges that arise will be discussed. COAP Webinar: Partnerships to Support Data-Driven Responses to Emerging Drug Solicitation Webinar

On behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Institute for Intergovernmental Research is releasing the Partnerships to Support Data-driven Responses to Emerging Drug Threats Grant solicitation. This is part of a series of demonstration projects funded under the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program. These demonstration projects are designed to build capacity, foster cross-sector collaboration, and support innovation. Under this solicitation, up to 6 communities will be selected for grant awards up to $600,000, each for a 24-month period.

COAP Webinar: ODMAP Statewide Expansion and Response Solicitation Webinar

COAP Webinar: Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program (ODMAP)

In 2017, the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area launched a free, user-friendly, mobile-capable tool known as the Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program (ODMAP) to track the location of suspected fatal and nonfatal overdoses and the administration of naloxone by first responders. ODMAP provides near real-time suspected overdose data across jurisdictions to support efforts to mobilize an immediate response to a sudden increase or spike in overdose events.

BJA FY 2019 Swift, Certain, Fair Grant Webinar

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) will host an informational webinar on May 17, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. ET to provide information for state, local, and tribal jurisdictions that are interested in implementing a Swift, Certain, and Fair Supervision Program Model through the BJA solicitation titled, “FY 2019 Innovative Responses to Behavior in the Community: Swift, Certain, and Fair Supervision.”

Webinar - Contemporary Police Responses to Addiction: Lessons from NIJ’s LEADS Program

The police departments in Dayton, Ohio and Madison, Wisconsin have both adopted nontraditional responses to the opioid crisis and other drug addictions, including outreach to overdose victims, joint-working with treatment and service providers, and pre-arrest diversion. Dayton, in particular, was nationally known as the epicenter of the opiate epidemic, with police personnel administering 162 doses of naloxone to 82 overdose victims in one month in 2017.

FY 2019 Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program: Funding Opportunity for Tribes

The Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) was signed into law on July 22, 2016. As part of CARA, the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program solicitation offers states, local governments, and Indian tribes six funding categories to expand outreach, treatment, and recovery efforts to individuals impacted by the opioid epidemic. In only its third year, this solicitation offers immense opportunities for tribes to design and enhance their own systems pursuant to community needs.

COAP – TTA Funding Announcement and Webinar

In this webinar, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) leaders will review the fiscal year 2019 Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program (COAP) grant application process. This training and technical assistance (TTA) is designed to complement the COAP competitive site-based solicitation. The purpose of this program is to deliver TTA to state, local, and tribal criminal justice and substance abuse treatment agencies, prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs), and their partner agencies.

In this webinar, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) leaders will review the fiscal year 2019 Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program grant application process. This site-based grant program provides awards ranging from $600,000 to $6,500,000 for a 36-month project period to deliver financial and technical assistance to states, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments to plan, develop, and implement comprehensive efforts to identify, respond to, treat, and support those impacted by the opioid epidemic.
