Winter 2017 Researcher Practitioner Fellows Academy

To enhance the effectiveness of the Smart Suite programs and to bring more “science” to the field, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has partnered with a team from the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University (MSU) to build an academy that will researchers and practitioners work more effectively and efficiently on crime reduction strategies. BJA Webinar on January 10 – Fiscal Year 2017 Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program Solicitation

Join the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for an informational webinar on the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation (BCJI) Program Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 Competitive Grant Announcement on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. ET. This webinar will provide an overview of the BCJI Program (current model and training and technical assistance program) as well as a walkthrough of key changes in the FY 2017 solicitation. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions directly to BJA staff.

Student Mental Health and Wellness (Dec 2016)

Mental health is important and plays a role in our daily lives. It refers to a person’s emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how a person thinks, feels, and acts.

Mental health problems can develop in children and youth at any age. Studies show that 20 percent of students in kindergarten through twelfth grade suffer from a mental health issue on any given day in any given classroom; and 10 percent of these issues are serious enough to affect how that student behaves at home, at school, and with others.

Justice Innovation in Times of Change: New Challenges, New Opportunities

On September 30, 2016, the Center for Court Innovation, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Quinnipiac University School of Law, will host "Justice Innovation in Times of Change: New Challenges, New Opportunities" at the Quinnipiac University School of Law, located at 370 Bassett Road in North Haven, CT.  

Criminal Justice Technology Forecasting Group Meeting #4

RAND plans to conduct the fourth in-person meeting of the Criminal Justice Technology Forecasting Group. This meeting will focus on addressing the top two topics for follow-on research from prior CJTFG meetings: identifying the most promising emerging technologies for sharing and using information, and determining top business cases for sharing information across the criminal justice enterprise.

13th Annual National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children Conference: Saving Children, Saving Families, Saving Communities

The National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (DEC) will be convening October 25-27, 2016, at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa in Reno, Nevada for their 13th Annual Conference. The agenda they are planning, the partners who will be participating, the experienced practitioners who will be attending, and the venue, all promise to make it a great conference! BJA NTTAC Webinar - "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics"

On Tuesday, June 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) will host the webinar "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics". The webinar will review the performance metrics associated with training engagements in the BJA Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Reporting Portal, and offer tips for entering training activities and reporting training performance metrics thoroughly and accurately.
