    Cyber Investigation 150 Introduction to Cellular Investigations ICI (May 2018)

    This course covers the acquisition and analysis of the various types of call detail records obtained from cellular providers. It focuses on data analysis using Microsoft Excel, as well as techniques for presenting findings in case reports or in court. Students receive a copy of PerpHound, the National White Collar Crime Center's (NW3C) free software tool for the analysis of call detail records. This course also covers best practices for seizing, preserving, and acquiring evidence internal to a cellular phone.

    NW3C FC 101-Financial Investigations Practical Skills (FIPS) (May 2018)

    The "Financial Crime (FC) 101 - Financial Investigations Practical Skills" (FIPS) course provides hands-on training at a basic level. Students develop the practical skills, insight, and knowledge necessary to manage a successful financial investigation from start to finish, including the acquisition and examination of financial records, interview skills, and case management and organization. Additional topics include securities fraud, insurance fraud, financial exploitation of the elderly, financial profiling, and state-specific statutes and legal issues.

    NW3C-FC 105 - Financial Records Examination and Analysis (FREA) (May 2018)

    The "Financial Crime (FC) 105 - Financial Records Examination and Analysis" (FREA) course covers the acquisition, examination, and analysis of many types of financial records, including bank statements and checks, wire transfer records, and business records. Topics include recognizing and investigating common indicators of fraud, using spreadsheets to facilitate analysis and pattern recognition, and financial profiling. There is a strong focus on presenting financial evidence in multiple modalities: spreadsheet data outputs, graphic representations, and written/oral presentations.

    FC 101 - Financial Investigations Practical Skills (May 22 2018)

    This course provides hands-on investigative training at a basic level. Students develop the practical skills, insight, and knowledge necessary to manage a successful financial investigation from start to finish, including the acquisition and examination of financial records, interview skills, and case management and organization. Additional topics include forgery and embezzlement, financial exploitation of the elderly, working with spreadsheets, financial profiling, and state-specific statutes and legal issues.

    FC 105 - Financial Records Examination and Analysis (May 2018)

    This course covers the acquisition, examination, and analysis of many types of financial records, including bank statements and checks, wire transfer records, and business records.     FC 201 - Financial Records Investigative Skills (May 2018)

    The "Financial Crime (FC) 201 - Financial Records Investigative Skills" (FRIS) course builds on the concepts introduced in "FC 101 - Financial Investigations Practical Skills" and "FC 105 - Financial Records Examination and Analysis," introducing investigators and prosecutors to emerging issues in financial crime. Topics include understanding money laundering, analyzing large financial data sets, conducting effective interviews, and managing large amounts of financial evidence. This course consists of a mix of lecture, discussion, and hands-on exercises.

    FC 122 - Intellectual Property Theft Training

    Course Description: This course introduces the problem of intellectual property theft and provides tools, techniques, and resources for investigating and prosecuting these crimes. A combination of lecture, discussion, and interactive exercises illustrates the potential dangers and economic repercussions of counterfeit products, as well as best practices and techniques for investigating IP theft.

    This course introduces the problem of intellectual property (IP) theft and provides tools, techniques, and resources for investigating and prosecuting these crimes. A combination of lecture, discussion, and interactive exercises illustrates the potential dangers and economic repercussions of counterfeit products, as well as best practices and techniques for investigating IP theft. Students are provided with a state-specific workbook that includes relevant statutes, sample organizational documents for IP investigations, and additional resources for investigators and prosecutors.

    Ohio Pre-Criminal Intervention Program

    The Bureau of Justice Assistance, in collaboration with the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program (COAP) team, is hosting the "Ohio Pre-Criminal Intervention Program" webinar on March 28, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. ET. Attendees will learn about how cross-system collaboration and data sharing are addressing opioid misuse in the state of Ohio by supporting the implementation of a pre-criminal intervention program (PCIP).

    Use of Force Investigations Guide – An ASCIA and Police Foundation Webinar

    In 2017, the Association of State Criminal Investigative Agencies (ASCIA) recognized the challenges facing many agencies that are tasked with investigating officer-involved shootings and other uses of force. As an association of statewide investigating agencies across the United States, ASCIA recommended the development of peer-agency guidance to assist state investigative agencies, as well as local agencies, conducting their own investigations into these incidents.
