    The Pretrial Justice Institute (PJI) in partnership with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) recently released a new publication, Implementing the Recommendations of the National Symposium on Pretrial Justice: The 2013 Progress Report, which outlines the specific recommendations given during the 2011 National Symposium and the previous year’s progress towards adoption of these recommendations.

    APA’s Final Fridays Webinar: Smart Strategies to Prioritize Resources & Public Safety

    Please join us for March’s Final Fridays webinar, “Smart Strategies to Prioritize Resources & Public Safety: Prosecution Led Diversion & Deferred Prosecution Programs”, to be held on Friday, March 28th from 3:00-4:00 pm (EDT). Diverting or deferring prosecution of criminal offenders can be a smart strategy for prioritizing prosecution resources, improving public safety, and giving qualified candidates an important “second chance”. More and more prosecutors are developing a broader variety of such programs to fit the specialized needs of their offenders and their jurisdictions.

    Community Justice 2014: International Summit

    The summit will provide an opportunity for practitioners from both inside and outside the justice system, including judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation officials, court administrators, police, clinical staff, and non-profit organizations to learn about a range of topics, including best practices in procedural justice, risk/needs assessment, alternative sanctions, and community restitution.

    The Tribal Law and Policy Institute (TLPI) is a 100% Native American operated non-profit corporation organized to design and deliver education, research, training, and technical assistance programs which promote the enhancement of justice in Indian country and the health, well-being, and culture of Native peoples.

    National American Indian Court Judges Association

    The National American Indian Court Judges Association (NAICJA) is a national association comprised of tribal justice personnel and others devoted to supporting and strengthening tribal justice systems through education, information-sharing, and advocacy. NAICJA is a nonprofit corporation established in 1969 as a corporation in the State of Delaware following the enactment of the federal Indian Civil Rights Act of 1968. The Act required tribes to follow certain requirements similar to those in the Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution.

    National District Attorney's Association

    The National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) was formed in 1950 by local prosecutors to give a focal point to advance their causes and issues at the national level. NDAA representatives regularly meet with the Department of Justice, members of Congress, and other national associations to represent the views of prosecutors to influence federal and national policies and programs that affect law enforcement and prosecution.
