The Advanced Gang Investigations training provides insight into techniques to investigate gang crimes and advanced tools for gang investigations, including information regarding how to integrate intelligence analysis and crime analysis. The training is designed to offer flexibility based on the needs of the law enforcement agencies in the geographical area where the training is being offered. The training provides awareness of existing tools, resources, and guidelines for gang investigators. In addition, attendees are presented with a view beyond their traditional suppression duties to explore law enforcement’s role in gang prevention and intervention.

Who Should Attend
This training has been developed for gang officers and intelligence analysts currently assigned to gang investigations, or who encounter street gangs through their law enforcement duties. Attendees are expected to have a basic knowledge of street gang recognition and identification. This training does not cover an overview of major national gangs: their signs, symbols, and tattoos.

Prerequisite Training
The Street Gang Intelligence module of this basic training is available online and must be completed prior to the on-site training. Material from the online course will be referenced but NOT covered during the in-class portion of the training. This training is an 80-minute, self-paced course. There is no registration fee; however, any travel, lodging, and per diem expenses are the responsibility of the attendee. This class is made possible through funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. We reserve the right to limit the number of attendees from each agency to ensure that the maximum number of area agencies are represented. Register early to reserve your space. Once your registration is received and accepted, a National Gang Center (NGC) staff member will confirm your registration via email. If you do not register with a government email address, your confirmation will be delayed while we verify your employment. For security reasons, only those individuals having a confirmed advance registration will be admitted to the class, and no walk-ins will be accepted at the door. Law enforcement credentials will be required at check-in. Class check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. on July 26, and the class schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
