The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) recently released a new publication, 10 Things Law Enforcement Executives Can Do to Positively Impact Homicide Investigation Outcomes, which offers ten recommendations that will help executives support homicide investigations, investigators, and the communities they serve.
Through NTTAC, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) will offer new training and technical assistance (TTA) resources to support communities through the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) TTA Program. CPTED is a problem solving approach that considers a broad array of factors, not just crime. It requires a systematic analysis of crime events and the conditions and factors that contribute to opportunities for crime. As a result of using this approach, a set of proactive programs or strategies are tailored to the problem and the location.
The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) recently released a new publication, Reentry Matters: Strategies and Successes of Second Chance Act Grantees Across the United States, that highlights the positive impacts reentry initiatives can have on programs and communities. Officials at all levels of government recognize the need for initiatives to support the successful reentry of people in the nation’s state prisons to their communities.

In an effort to implement President Obama’s Digital Government Strategy, the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) recently published an application programming interface (API) that provides access to twenty years (1993-2013) of OJP Grant Awards Data in open, machine-readable formats. The interface includes current-year grant awards data and is updated daily. According to OJP’s Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Operations and Management, James H.
