Join the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) for their webinar “Solving the Dilemma of Self-Injurious Behavior in the Incarcerated Population” on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 1:00–2:00 p.m. ET. This webinar is intended for federal, state, or local correctional jurisdiction employees who routinely interact with incarcerated men and women as part of their job.

Dr. Hayden Smith, professor of criminology and criminal justice at the University of South Carolina, will present during this interactive webinar. NIC lists the following learning objectives: “participants will (1) develop an understanding of the underlying motivations, prevalence, and manifestation of self-injurious behavior among incarcerated adults, (2) identify the potential risks associated with witnessing self-injurious behavior and how that could affect correctional staff wellness and resiliency, and (3) gain knowledge about the most appropriate institutional responses to self-injury among the incarcerated population.”
