    Webinar - Body Worn Cameras for Police Departments

    Body worn cameras (BWCs) have been in the news for the past couple of years. To better educate local governments on the trending issues surrounding this topic, Leonard Matarese will lead a discussion with the CNA Institute for Public Research, which directs and coordinates technical assistance regarding BWCs for the hundreds of police agencies that have received funding in recent years from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) under the BWC Policy and Implementation Program (PIP). 

    Webinar - Developing Trauma Informed Partnerships with Schools and Other CAC Partners - Part 1

    Brief Overview: This presentation will focus on how Dr. Amelia Siders with the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center worked to design and implement trauma-informed trainings for schools, law enforcement, and other community partners.     Webinar - Integration of Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Spatial Analysis (GIS)

    This webinar will discuss two social network analysis (SNA) projects that the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Police Department (PD) undertook. The first project examined the extent of shared connections among shooting victims through network analysis; in particular, the analysis examined cross-divisional connections by combining the network analysis and geographic information systems (GIS). The second project applied SNA to understand connections among gangs at the group-level across the city.

    Ethical Policing Is Courageous (EPIC) is a program developed by the New Orleans, Louisiana Police Department (NOPD) in an effort to educate and support its officers in the practice of peer intervention. Through EPIC, NOPD trains members of its department to identify and safely intervene when they believe that persons are at risk for doing something that would harm themselves and/or others. This peer approach to “policing” one another has proved effective for NOPD in preventing harm and promoting officer wellness.

    On June 22, 2018 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) will present on the fiscal year (FY) 2018 Opioid Affected Youth Initiative. This webinar will provide a general overview of the solicitation, deliverables, and the program goals and objectives. The OJJDP FY 2018 Opioid Affected Youth Initiative will fund sites to develop a data-driven, coordinated response to identify and address challenges resulting from opioid abuse that are impacting youth and community safety.
