In this 60-minute webinar, presenters shared strategies for how to use evaluation results to improve and sustain your program. Strategies for using evaluation data in both a formative manner, to guide ongoing, continuous program improvement; and a reflective manner, to gain deep insights at the conclusion of the program to inform decisions about program sustainability and replication, were shared. In addition, an example of real-world application was shared by the Erie County Jails New Dawn Initiative team, including the perspective of the research partners and Program Director.

As a follow up to a recent ES TTA webinar, Alternatives to Using Random Assignment for Outcome Evaluations, which highlighted alternative designs to apply when the ‘gold standard’ is not possible, the ES TTA team launched a series of working group sessions facilitated by Dr. Samuel Scaggs (a Research Criminologist at RTI) to allow grantees to dive deeper into the application of specific matching methods such as propensity score modeling. The working group sessions are designed to be interactive and foster discussion among attendees.

We are currently working on policy development and I’m hoping you may be able to point me to an agency who has a developed co-responder program that is willing to share their policies.

I am inquiring about all the supportive services that are listed on the website. This is my first year as program coordinator for Essex County Outreach Program. One of our barriers is finding a way to have the 34 partnering Police Departments actually using the CIMS database to document a fatal or non fatal incidents. We have trained, retrained these departments and yet not many departments utilize the database they agreed to partner with.

The Fairfax County Police Department has an Overdose Investigation Unit that focuses exclusively on investigating overdoses. There's a law enforcement agency in Florida that has a similar unit. We are seeking information on other law enforcement agencies that have a unit/team that only focuses on overdoses.

Clackamas County encountered a number of new barriers to program continuation at current service levels. Multnomah County, adjacent to Clackamas County, discontinued their contract with Central City Concern (CCC, subrecipient). CCC also provided case management services to LEAD clients in Multnomah County. Multnomah County changed its service delivery model and now relies on social referrals. It no longer uses the LEAD model. Because CCC leveraged resources from both counties, our program sustained a financial impact.
