    Responding to the 2019 Second Chance Act Community-Based Adult Reentry Grant Program Solicitation

    In this webinar, officials from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance and the National Reentry Resource Center review the Second Chance Act Comprehensive Community-Based Adult Reentry grant program and its application process. These grants are designed to support community- and faith-based organizations in expanding on or implementing reentry programs that demonstrate strong partnerships with corrections, parole, probation, and law enforcement agencies or other reentry service providers.

    Peer recovery support services (PRSS) are increasingly being offered across diverse criminal justice settings to address opioid abuse and achieve positive outcomes. Peer specialists use their lived experience of addiction, criminal justice involvement, and recovery to assist others on their path to recovery. PRSS in jail settings offers a unique opportunity to address the needs of individuals with opioid use disorder while they are incarcerated and upon reentry.

    Effective Strategies to Investigate and Prosecute Labor Trafficking in the United States (Sept 2019)

    This two-and-a-half-day training, sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police and AEquitas: The Prosecutors’ Resource on Violence Against Women and funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), is designed to prepare participants to identify, investigate, and prosecute labor trafficking crimes.

    This course will enable investigators and prosecutors to proactively identify victims of labor trafficking and effectively investigate and prosecute offenders using best practices and a trauma-centered approach.
