    Leave No Victim Behind IV National Training Conference

    The University of Oregon, Oregon Police Department and the California Victim Compensation Board are pleased to announce the Leave No Victim Behind IV national training conference for 2019. The conference will take place on October 21 – 23, 2019 at the Conference Center of Las Vegas. The Leave No Victim Behind conference series will continue its focus on best practices for responding to mass violence and unique partnerships between law enforcement and victim services to assist victims of crime.

    Webinar - Staffing 9-1-1 Centers in the Era of NG9-1-1

    Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) can provide different kinds of information to public safety agencies. Ultimately, it is a community decision to pay for technologies and staffing to support NG9-1-1 applications designed to meet community needs.

    The gradual adoption of NG9-1-1 information technologies will require Public Safety Answering Points to collect and analyze data that measure staff workload and performance. Accurate current workload information will be important for determining how much additional staff time may be needed to handle work generated by NG9-1-1 capabilities.

    Emergency medical services (EMS) can be essential partners in early diversion responses for individuals in crisis. This webinar will focus on the ways that fire departments and EMS can be partners with behavioral health providers and other first responders on early diversion initiatives.     Research to Improve Law Enforcement Response to Persons with Mental Illnesses and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities

    Law enforcement agencies and communities across the country are looking for strategies to improve the behavioral health crisis response for individuals with mental illnesses and intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This webinar will provide an overview of the evidence on models of mental health crisis response, including Crisis Intervention Teams, mobile crisis, co-responder, and stand-alone mental health response training.

    On behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Institute for Intergovernmental Research is releasing the Partnerships to Support Data-driven Responses to Emerging Drug Threats Grant solicitation. This is part of a series of demonstration projects funded under the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program. These demonstration projects are designed to build capacity, foster cross-sector collaboration, and support innovation. Under this solicitation, up to 6 communities will be selected for grant awards up to $600,000, each for a 24-month period.
