On June 1, 2016, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Deliquency Prevention (OJJDP), in collaboration with the National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice, will present the webinar "Fostering Processes of Reconciliation." This webinar will describe the National Initiative's implementation efforts in its six pilot sites and give background on the concepts and practices of reconciliation.

Society is plagued with stories about poor tactics and excessive use of force. As such, public outcry for change is louder than ever. As a result, many agencies have attempted quick fixes without a true understanding of some of the underlying use-of-force concepts and principles that create a strong and defendable decision-making paradigm.

This 2:00 p.m. ET webinar notes that ethical issues related to professional boundaries are among the most problematic and challenging. Although some issues may seem cut and dried in a correctional setting, others may fall into the "gray area" depending on one's role / job description. This training will provide an awareness and understanding of professional boundaries, what they are, and why they are important. It will introduce participants to the concept of the Power Differential and how it impacts the relationships between all RSAT Program staff and community members.
