The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking resumes from qualified experts to serve as peer reviewers to assess grant applications. Selected reviewers may evaluate grant applications remotely and will not be required to attend any in-person meetings. Before the review period begins, reviewers will participate in an Orientation Call that will define the background and purpose of the grant under review, as well as the roles and responsibilities for reviewers.

During the webinar, CJJ will explore recent research findings from The Sentencing Project regarding disproportionate minority contact (DMC).

Webinar: Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Youth Incarceration

Disproportionate minority contact (DMC) remains a major issue within the juvenile justice system. The Sentencing Project has undertaken new research on the issue of DMC to discover the rate at which youth of color are incarcerated as compared to their white peers. Their new findings show that African-American youth are five times more likely to be incarcerated than white youth, while Native-American youth are three times more likely to be incarcerated than white youth.
