Virtual Currency Investigations: Fear Not the Blockchains

Blockchain technology is not only a disruptive new payment rail, but also is the next phase in the evolution of the Internet. This new technology presents unique investigative challenges for law enforcement and regulatory agencies of all sizes. This fast-paced class assumes that attendees have no prior knowledge of blockchain technology, but seek to gain a foundational understanding of it. The first portion of this class will teach key blockchain concepts such as distributed ledgers, mining, distributed applications, wallets, digital currency exchanges, smart contracts, privacy coins, and much more. The second portion will provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of the tools and techniques used by law enforcement and financial institutions to investigate cryptocurrency transactions for investigative and regulatory compliance purposes.
