Register for Webinar: Criminal Record Clearance and the Clean Slate Clearinghouse

Thursday Nov 02, 2017 - 02:00pm to 03:30pm EDT
Event Description:

Hosted by the Clean Slate Clearinghouse, with funding support from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance

For individuals with a criminal record, certain restrictions exist that affect their ability to obtain gainful employment, housing, public benefits, and access to other rights and benefits. This webinar will discuss these “collateral consequences” and provide an overview of efforts across the U.S. to mitigate these consequences through criminal record clearance legislation. Presenters will also introduce the Clean Slate Clearinghouse (CSC), a project funded by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and developed by The Council of State Governments Justice Center. The CSC provides people with criminal records, legal service providers, and state policymakers with information on juvenile and adult criminal record clearance policies in all U.S. states and territories.

Panelists:

  • Jacqueline Freeman, Unit Chief for Reentry Employment Services, U.S. Department of Labor
  • Deanna Hoskins, Senior Policy Advisor, U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance
