BJA Webinar - The Price of Justice: Rethinking the Consequences of Justice Fines and Fees Funding Opportunity

Monday Mar 28, 2016 - 11:30am to 12:30pm EDT
Event Description:

This webinar will provide an overview of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) “The Price of Justice: Rethinking the Consequences of Justice Fines and Fees” funding opportunity. Potential applicants will have an opportunity to learn about the background and key concepts of this funding opportunity, and the requirements of the solicitation. The goal of this program is to encourage and disseminate best practices for coordinated and appropriate justice systems responses due to justice-involved individuals’ inability to pay fines, fees, and related charges. BJA seeks proposals that aim to implement fair, data-driven, and effective policies and practices related to criminal justice financial obligations; promote and increase transparency, collaboration, and data sharing among criminal justice agencies and officials regarding assessment, collection, prioritization, and tracking of fines, fees, and related costs; and support tailored alternatives that promote rehabilitation, reintegration, and community trust. BJA encourages participation of state and local policymakers, law enforcement, prosecution, defense, pretrial, courts, probation, treatment, corrections, reentry, and parole.
