APA Final Friday Webinar: Prosecuting Hate Crimes

Friday Feb 28, 2014 - 08:00pm to 09:00pm EST
Event Description:

Reprising one of the most popular sessions from last year’s 8th National Community Prosecution Summit, Joy Repella, Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney and Patrice O’Neill, CEO & Executive Producer of the Oakland, CA based non-profit, Not in Our Town, present February’s Final Friday’s webinar, “Prosecuting Hate Crimes”. Citing examples from Chicago, San Francisco, and around the country, Joy and Patrice will explore the challenges and complexities of prosecuting these offenses, supporting victims, and working with law enforcement, targeted communities, and the broader public to build an effective community response to the violence. NIOT resources referenced include materials produced in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice COPS Office.

This free webinar is a great learning opportunity for prosecutors who are already experienced in handling these offenses as well as those new to such prosecutions. It is also a great learning opportunity for law enforcement officers, other criminal justice professionals, and community members to learn more about how they can work together to end the violence.

APA is seeking one credit of Continuing Legal Education credit from the State of Virginia and can help attorney attendees qualify this webinar for CLE credit in their own jurisdictions. If you would like to download a flyer click here. **Please click HERE to register**
