Webinar - BJA FY 2021 Intellectual Property Enforcement Program

This webinar will provide an overview of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 Intellectual Property Enforcement Program: Protecting Public Health, Safety, and the Economy from Counterfeit Goods and Product Piracy solicitation. This program assists state, local, and tribal jurisdictions in preventing and reducing intellectual property (IP) theft and related crime. It is designed to improve the capacity of criminal justice systems to address IP enforcement, including prosecution, prevention, and training and technical assistance. The presenter will provide the criteria for this solicitation and what items are approved for funding and what items are not allowed. The presenter will also provide an overview of the peer review process, the required partnerships, and the reporting process. The attendees will be able to ask questions.

Courts can have a positive impact on families affected by the opioid crisis, but traditionally that role has been reactive, occurring after a dependency petition is filed. Increasing reports of maltreatment due to substance use disorders in conjunction with more children entering an overburdened foster care system can produce poor outcomes for children and families. Serving the needs of children and families affected by substance use and misuse can be proactive.

This web event, hosted by the National Law Enforcement Roadway Safety Program (NLERSP) under the Bureau of Justice Assistance VALOR Initiative, will discuss trends in officer injuries and fatalities from roadway-related incidents, provide a detailed case study of an officer struck-by incident, including lessons learned, and identify numerous resources available for patrol officers and agency decision-makers, alike, to reduce risk and improve officer safety on the road.
