As the TTA responsibilities and opportunities for IIR continue to grow and expand in step with the evolution of COAP, IIR prioritizes agility and innovation in determining ways to best meet these new demands. As COAP entered its second funding cycle (i.e., FY2018), a central component of IIR’s strategy was to strengthen its bench of in-house subject expertise through the supplementation of the IIR COAP roster.

On August 30, 2018, the Department of Justice, in partnership with nine additional Federal departments/agencies and 24 stakeholder associations and organizations, held a press event to release Fentanyl: The Real Deal. The video, designed for roll call training, reinforces key messages from the Fentanyl Safety Recommendations for First Responders, which was released in November 2017.

The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) and the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR), with support from the U.S. Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), hosted a national meeting bringing together of medical examiners/coroners (ME/C) and PDMP Administrators. Also invited to the meeting were representatives from national ME/C organizations and several federal agencies interested in facilitating work at the state and local level and to learn about state and local needs.

The PMIX Executive Committee of the PMIX Standards Organization held their annual meeting on July 11th and 12th, 2018. The meeting was held at the offices of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) in Washington D.C. Along with the Executive Committee membership, there were also representatives from BJA and IJIS Institute. The meeting was coordinated by the PDMP Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) and supported by BJA. The meeting produced changes to the organization’s by-laws and established a new standards compliance subcommittee.
