The RxCheck Governance Board National meeting was held on July 10, 2018 at the offices of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) in Washington D.C. Along with PDMP administrators, there were also representatives from BJA, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), IJIS Institute, and the Tetrus Corporation in attendance. The meeting was coordinated by the PDMP Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) and supported by BJA.

Will provide on site support for SIM for Winnebago, IL for the Opioid Task Force and criminal justice stakeholders. A brief survey was conducted in advance of the site visit. After several postponements, on-site event to facilitate the mapping exercise occurred on September 26th. The morning session featured brief presentation on pre-arrest diversion & opioid overdose outreach practices as well as best reentry practices for individuals leaving a detention facility.

Criminal justice agencies, including drug courts, probation and parole, often want to partner with/for peer-based recovery housing, but their perspectives, policies and procedures often prevent that from happening. For example, restrictions prohibiting staff criminal justice backgrounds or restrictions around how long someone can stay in the residence, make such partnerships challenging, if not impossible.

The purpose of this annual Summit is for stakeholders to gather and discuss the latest in prevention and treatment in the area of prescription drug abuse. Two IIR staff members attended the Summit to enhance their knowledge base and
benefit IIR’s support to BJA’s Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Program.
