At the request of MDOC leadership, CJI is completing a validation study on the risk assessment to examine the validity of their current risk assessment tool being used by Field Officers in the community.

The National American Indian Court Judges Association (NAICJA) proposes to write a publication based on Emerging Practices in Tribal Criminal Indigent Defense and Civil Legal Aid. This publication will offer a synopsis of four emerging program practices and evaluate the possibility of each program’s success and effectiveness. The publication will gather existing data for the four programs, including evidence derived from various quantitative and qualitative data collections.

Conduct a site visit to interview WPD representatives and representatives from forensic service providers, regional task forces, and prosecutors’ offices to gather information for the homicide investigation assessment.

The research partners for Pharr SPI requested assistance and input on framing their evaluation and final report. SPI SMEs Scott Decker, Mike White, and Chip Coldren assisted and offered to help the site with an interrupted time series analysis.

Memos developed for BJA with recommendation to accept/request report and with suggested report improvements.

The research partner for East Palo Alto SPI requested input/assistance regarding the scope/framework of the project evaluation due to ongoing changes in leadership, which impacted project implementation and evaluation.

There have been ongoing discussions with SD DOC regarding data. Delays have occurred due to system challenges, but data cleanup has commenced and preliminary baseline data is available.
