During this half-day site visit, the TA coach and other CSG Justice Center staff met with the grantee to discuss the JMHCP project goals, successes, and challenges to better understand the grantee’s ongoing TA needs, understand how the Consolidated Misdemeanor Problem-Solving (CMPS) court fits into the continuum of services for people with behavioral health needs in Pima County, observe the county Jail Population Review meeting, and visit the jail Transition Center to better understand services available to court participants.

During this site visit, CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit with the Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts (AZ AOC). CSG Justice Center staff prepared and facilitated a workshop on assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) per the request of the grantee. The audience of the workshop was Donald Jacobson (grantee POC), Tucson/Pima County judges and court administrators, prosecutors, defense attorneys, officers from Tucson Police Department, and Tucson/Pima County behavioral health service providers.

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit with the FY22 City of Tucson grantee. During this visit the the grantee and CSG Justice Center Staff presented on best practices for mental health courts and conducted a virtual peer learning session with FY22 JMHCP grantee Johnson County, KS, who are in the implementation phase of establishing their mental health court. CSG Justice Center staff also facilitated discussions on eligibility for the mental health court and the organization of the mental health court individually as well as in relation to the other specialty courts.

During this site visit, CSG Justice Center Staff met with the Judiciary of Rhode Island mental health Court team in Warwick, RI. On the first day, CSG Justice Center staff provided an overview of the visit, conducted training on referral and enrollment best practice as well as staff roles and responsibilities, and observed the team's staffing and eligibility sessions. On the second day, staff observed the Mental health Court docket/hearings and met the team's program evaluator.

The Alaska SAA's office invited the CJP SCIP-focused program managers to join the newly formed Byrne SCIP Advisory Board to support them as they figure out their SCIP funding priorities. We attended a pre-meeting planning meeting, facilitated the planning session with the full Advisory Board, then held a debrief meeting. AK was able to sort through various priorities and identified several goals and priorities for their funding in our presences and continues to move forward.

CSG Justice Center Staff conducted a virtual site visit with the FY21 JMHCP Winchester-Frederick Northwestern Community Services Board team. During the second day of the site visit, on February 15, 2024, the TA Coach facilitated a connection with another TA Coach to discuss the differences between post plea mental health docket structures and pretrial dockets. The attendees had the opportunity to discuss their docket style and the pros and cons they identified for their post plea docket.

The National Policing Institute and the NRTAC team were invited by the ATF to attend the third annual ATF Chiefs of Police Executive Forum on Crime Guns. NRTAC personnel set up an exhibition booth to present the work of the Institute and showcase available CGIC resources to conference attendees. Additionally, Alan Hughes from the NRTAC and Kristie Brackens from the BJA participated in an informational session to inform attendees of BJA’s grant funding opportunities, including BJA’s local CGIC grant.

The NRTAC team provided four onsite training sessions on Firearms Identification and Crime Gun Intelligence Exploitation for law enforcement agencies and prosecutors in Pitt County (NC), with subject matter expert Mark Kraft delivering the content. The training informed attendees about how to identify a firearm for accurate trace results and how crime gun intelligence can be used to investigate and prosecute NIBIN-related cases.
