CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit with the FY22 City of Tucson grantee. During this visit the the grantee and CSG Justice Center Staff presented on best practices for mental health courts and conducted a virtual peer learning session with FY22 JMHCP grantee Johnson County, KS, who are in the implementation phase of establishing their mental health court. CSG Justice Center staff also facilitated discussions on eligibility for the mental health court and the organization of the mental health court individually as well as in relation to the other specialty courts. There was a session to discuss data collection and performance measures, as well as a workshop session on the P&I Guide. The grantee also allowed CSG Justice Center staff to view a session of their current mental health docket and engage with the prosecutors during the session. The site visit sessions were well attended with representation from Tucson City Court staff, the public defender’s office, district attorney’s office, one of the partner behavioral health providers, the National Center for State Courts (joined virtually), and Tucson Police Court.
