The NRTAC team helped facilitate a peer-to-peer engagement between the Tucson, (AZ) Police Department (TPD) and the Cincinnati (OH) Police Department (CPD) CGICs, during which CPD gave TPD an all-encompassing site tour. The purpose of the site visit was to give the TPD CGIC an in-depth understanding of the strategies and resources implemented by the CPD CGIC to effectively employ the CGIC model and procedures to improve clearance rates.
The NRTAC team provided four onsite training sessions on Firearms Identification and Crime Gun Intelligence Exploitation for the Chicago (IL) Police Department, with subject matter expert Mark Kraft delivering the content. The training informed attendees about how to identify a firearm for accurate trace results and how crime gun intelligence can be used to investigate and prosecute NIBIN-related cases.
The Internet of Things (IoT) encompasses a complex network of data, demanding a thorough understanding and careful planning for its retrieval, management, and subsequent examination within the context of criminal investigations. From this training program, learn comprehensive exploration of the diverse devices and interconnected systems responsible for generating valuable data. Participants will actively engage in live demonstrations, acquiring practical skills for extracting and analyzing this data using non-forensic methods.
CSG Justice Center Staff conducted a virtual site visit with the FY21 JMHCP Winchester-Frederick Northwestern Community Services Board team. During the first day of the site visit, on January 29, 2024, the attendees provided a historical overview of the program and current program updates. The TA Coach facilitated a peer connection with the Bonneville, ID Mental Health Court to discuss their program practices. Bonneville MHC discussed appropriate incentives and sanctions, best practices in utilizing drug testing in MHC's and progress through program phases.

Tucson, AZ SPI requested assistance to attend Pycon in Pittsburgh, PA in May 2024. The conference attendance is to increase the site team’s understanding of Python, a programming language they are using to build out automated tasks for their SPI efforts.
This webinar will bring together practitioners, industry professionals, and academics to delve deeper into contemporary research on gunshot detection, the potential controversies on its use and the experiences from agencies that are implementing these technologies including benefits and lessons learned. The aim of this webinar is to provide actionable information for practitioners who are looking to deploy, expand or further leverage gunshot detection and want to stay informed of best practices and points of caution.
The Detroit SPI project is a 2021 grant award. Detroit intends to ask BJA for a 12 month "No-Cost" project period extension this summer. The TTA site team will hold a site visit where the SPI project team can brief Detroit PD command staff, and MDOC administrators, on the the project thus far and built a work plan going forward to help realize the original goals for this SPI as laid out in their BJA SPI Action Plan which was approved back in 2022.
