    13th Annual National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children Conference: Saving Children, Saving Families, Saving Communities

    The National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children (DEC) will be convening October 25-27, 2016, at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa in Reno, Nevada for their 13th Annual Conference. The agenda they are planning, the partners who will be participating, the experienced practitioners who will be attending, and the venue, all promise to make it a great conference! Those of you who have attended National DEC's annual conference in years past know that there is much to learn, do, and see at the conference.

    Capital Litigation Initiative: Crime Scene to Courtroom Forensics Training

    The National Clearinghouse for Science, Technology and Law (NCSTL) at Stetson University College of Law is offering a 2-day training Capital Litigation Initiative: Crime Scene to Courtroom Forensics Training under BJA Grant # 2015-CP-BX-K006.

    The training will be held at the Sirata Beach Resort and Conference Center in St. Pete Beach, FL on July 11 -12, 2016.

    BJA NTTAC Webinar - "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics"

    On Tuesday, June 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) will host the webinar "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics". The webinar will review the performance metrics associated with training engagements in the BJA Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Reporting Portal, and offer tips for entering training activities and reporting training performance metrics thoroughly and accurately.

    Vera Institute of Justice Webinar - Protecting the Fair Housing Rights of People with Criminal Records

    Millions of Americans—a disproportionate number of whom are people of color—have criminal records that can be a barrier to housing. In celebration of National Reentry Week, the Shriver Center and the Vera Institute of Justice will host a webinar on April 28, 2016, on fair housing rights for people with criminal records. 

    Reducing the Use of Segregation in Correctional Facilities: Lessons from the Field/ Webinar # 1: Using Assessment to Drive Reform

    This is the first in a series of webinars presented by the Vera Institute of Justice’s Safe Alternatives to Segregation Initiative. The purpose of the series is to highlight reforms to segregated housing (also referred to as restrictive housing or solitary confinement) being implemented by corrections agencies across the country.

    People with Disabilities in the Criminal Justice System: Promising Legislation for Statewide Reforms

    Join NCCJD as we delve into the stories that created statewide movements to pass legislation impacting people with disabilities in the criminal justice system as either suspects or victims of crime. Over the past two years, NCCJD has been compiling a database of such legislation in order to help criminal justice and disability professionals understand this issue from a national viewpoint and get an idea of what type of legislation is being passed and why. A brief overview of current findings will be discussed by NCCJD’s Program Manager.
