    Enhancing Tribal and State Collaborations to Build Sustainable Public Safety Partnerships (Jul 2016)

    This course is designed to be a proactive, comprehensive, training experience that fosters collaboration among tribal, state, federal, and local governments. The class will train and equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify existing tribal justice challenges for the purpose of strengthening partnerships to more effectively implement criminal justice initiatives in their organizations.

    BJA NTTAC Webinar - "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics"

    On Tuesday, June 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) will host the webinar "Tips for Reporting on Training Performance Metrics". The webinar will review the performance metrics associated with training engagements in the BJA Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Reporting Portal, and offer tips for entering training activities and reporting training performance metrics thoroughly and accurately.

    Justice Reinvestment Initiative Webinar - The Cost-Benefit Analysis for Reducing Recidivism

    The Bureau of Justice Assistance (NTTAC) is hosting a webinar on a cost-benefit analysis model for the criminal justice community. All interested criminal justice professionals are encouraged to participate.

    The course consists of topics including: Collaboration & Partnerships: MOU/MOA and Tribal Governance; Understanding Issues and Tribal Threats: Law & Legal, Sovereignty for Collaboration: Best Practices and Lessons Learned; Partnership & Stakeholder Resources. This training assists participants in overcoming collaborative tribal partnership challenges by: deploying the GAP Analysis process within their strategic planning process and initiate collaborations with appropriate structure to maximize tribal and non-tribal resources in a problem-solving environment.

    Tribal Track at National Association of Drug Court Professionals

    The National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) Annual Conference is the world’s largest conference on substance use disorders, mental health disorders and the criminal justice system. The NADCP 22nd Annual Training Conference and the Justice For Vets 4th Annual Vet Court Con will be held simultaneously at the Anaheim Convention Center and the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, California. 

     

    The Tribal Law and Policy Institute (TLPI) will provide four workshops focused on Healing to Wellness Courts at the 22nd Annual National Association of Drug Court Professionals Conference. These workshops include "Indian Country Legal Issues," "Pharmacology and Medically-assisted Treatment (MAT) in Healing to Wellness Courts," "Keeping Families Together in Healing to Wellness Courts," and "Healing to Wellness Courts in Action."

    The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), in collaboration with the Department of Justice, the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Executive Office of U.S. Attorney’s, the United States Attorney’s Office District of Delaware, the United States Attorney’s Office District of Maryland, and the Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network, present the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Characteristics of Armed Persons training event.

    BJA Webinar - The Price of Justice: Rethinking the Consequences of Justice Fines and Fees Funding Opportunity

     This webinar will provide an overview of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) “The Price of Justice: Rethinking the Consequences of Justice Fines and Fees” funding opportunity. Potential applicants will have an opportunity to learn about the background and key concepts of this funding opportunity, and the requirements of the solicitation. The goal of this program is to encourage and disseminate best practices for coordinated and appropriate justice systems responses due to justice-involved individuals’ inability to pay fines, fees, and related charges.

    BJA Smart Prosecution Solicitation Webinar

    On March 3, 2016, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) will host an informational webinar the Smart Prosecution Initiative Solicitation Fiscal Year 2016 Competitive Grant Announcement. The purpose of this webinar is to share information about the solicitation with interested applicants. Webinar participants will have the opportunity to learn about BJA’s expectations of the selected state, local, or tribal prosecutor agency, and ask questions about the solicitation and the application process. Applications are dur by 5:00 p.m. ET on March 28, 2016.

    Webinar: BJA and SAMHSA Wellness Court Funding Opportunities

    This webinar will provide a brief overview of Tribal Healing to Wellness Court funding opportunities available within the FY 2016 Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Drug Court Discretionary Program, the SAMHSA Grants to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment Capacity in Adult and Family Drug Courts (Short Title: SAMHSA Treatment Drug Courts), and the anticipated Joint BJA/SAMHSA Adult Drug Court Solicitation. This webinar focuses upon the application requirements of these grants. In addition, this webinar provides BJA Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program-specific grant writing tips, general grant writing tips, and other potential federal sources of funding.
