Onsite Training - 2017 Comprehensive Gang Model Workshop

Training on the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) Comprehensive Gang Model will be offered by the National Gang Center (NGC) on June 13–15, 2017, in Denver, Colorado. The training is free; however, all other costs will be the responsibility of the participants (e.g., travel, meals, lodging, and transportation).

Webinar - Protecting the Victims of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking

Efforts to protect children identified as victims of domestic sex trafficking have gained momentum as a number of states have developed protective legislation often referred to as “Safe Harbor” laws, which aim to ensure identified youth are treated as victims not offenders. Hosted by the Justice Clearinghouse, this webinar will present statutory, policy-based, and practice-oriented approaches to improving the response to child sex trafficking victims.

Vera Institute of Justice Webinar - Prisoner Reentry as a Social Institution and Making Up of the ‘Ex-Offender’

In the era of mass incarceration, prisoner reentry has become an important social institution in the life worlds’ of the urban poor. This is especially the case for poor African-American men and women, Latinos, and increasingly poor white men. Yet we know little about the everyday experience of prisoner reentry or the broader implications of our current crime control strategies in shaping the experiences, interactions, and daily routines of urban life.

Research Partner Orientation Course_PSN FY16 Grantees

Since competitive funding for Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) began in fiscal year (FY) 2012, the Michigan State University (MSU) School of Criminal Justice, as a PSN Training and Technical Assistance provider, has hosted four PSN Research Partner Orientation Courses (RPOC) for more than 120 people from 47 cities. The RPOC is a one- to two-day training attended by, at a minimum, the PSN Project Coordinator or primary point of contact and the Research Partner (RP).
