Criminal Justice Reform

On November 14, 2016, Deputy Attorney General Sally Q. Yates delivered the annual Noreen E. McNamara Memorial Lecture at Fordham University School of Law in New York City, New York. Her opening remarks focused on the continuing efforts of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to support criminal justice reform across all aspects of the criminal justice system.

On Thursday, December 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET, the White House and the Department of Justice will host federal and state-wide officials, advocates, and academics to discuss criminal justice system practices, such as fees and fines imposed by local jurisdictions and fixed money bail, which contribute to the cycle of poverty and create significant barriers to re-entry.
