Register for the BJA Webinar on January 12 – Fiscal Year 2017 National Sexual Assault Kit Initiative Solicitation

Join the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for an informational webinar on the National Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 Competitive Grant Announcement on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. ET. This webinar will provide an overview of SAKI, which enhances state and local law enforcement agencies’ response to violent crime by addressing the issue of unsubmitted sexual assault kits.

For the FY 2017 solicitation, eligible applicants are limited to state law enforcement agencies, units of local government, federally recognized American Indian tribal governments, prosecutor’s offices, or governmental non-law enforcement agencies acting as fiscal agents for one of the other listed eligible applicants. Additionally, this solicitation has three Purpose Areas:

  • Purpose Area 1: Comprehensive Approach to Unsubmitted Sexual Assault Kits.
  • Purpose Area 2: SAKI for Small Agencies (eligibility is limited to small law enforcement agencies with less than 250 sworn officers or to consortia of small agencies).
  • Purpose Area 3: Collection of Lawfully Owned DNA from Convicted Offenders to Assist with Sexual Assault Investigations and Prosecutions.

Applicants must register with Grants.gov prior to submitting an application. All applications are due in Grants.gov by 11:59 p.m. ET on March 2, 2017.
