The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) is a key partner of law enforcement in resolving cases regarding missing and exploited children, including cases related to child pornography (CP). Join Fox Valley Technical College’s National Criminal Justice Training Center (NCJTC) for the webinar “The NCMEC Safeguard Program: A Model for Developing Your Resiliency Program” on Wednesday, September 13 from 2:00 to 3:15 p.m. ET to learn how your organization can manage staff trauma and stress that occurs when working on CP-related cases.
During this webinar, attendees will learn how to:
- Recognize the short- and long-term effects of exposure to CP content and information;
- Access new research on effective support for first responders exposed to CP content;
- Identify warning signs around trauma and stress to singular and cumulative exposure to CP content; and
- Use the NCMEC Safeguard Program to provide support and resiliency to employees, including specific techniques for safely viewing content.
The presenter for this webinar will be Licensed Clinical Social Worker and NCMEC Senior Family Advocacy Specialist, Lanae J. Holmes. Ms. Holmes manages the Safeguard Program to support staff exposed to CP through their daily work. During the webinar, she will discuss the steps needed to ensure a healthy staff environment, from the initial employment screening process through post-employment follow-up.
