This webinar will discuss the steps necessary to support a healthy staff environment from the initial employment interview process, through training, employment, end of employment, and post-employment follow-up. A combination of research and case examples support the presentation.

  • Technical Level: Basic.
  • The following are encouraged to attend: detectives, forensic interviewers, sexual assault nurse examiners, victim advocates, juvenile court personnel, prosecutors, and other child-serving professionals.

Attend this webinar to:

  1. Recognize the short and long-term physiological, psychological, and behavioral effects of exposure to child pornography (CP) content and information, including current brain-science information.
  2. Demonstrate the new research on effective support for first responders exposed to content.
  3. Identify warning signs indicating a traumatic response to single and cumulative exposures to CP content and the methods of communicating these warning signs to others.
  4. Discover the Safeguard Program, a resiliency based model for providing support to employees, and specific techniques for safely viewing content.

About the presenter: Lanae J. Holmes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is the Senior Family Advocacy Specialist for the Family Advocacy Division of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). In her role at NCMEC, Lanae provides direct services and support to families of missing and exploited children and manages the Safeguard Program for NCMEC staff exposed to child pornography content during their daily work. Lanae has participated in numerous trainings and conferences, teaching the benefits of the Safeguard Program and addressing the therapeutic needs for missing and exploited children and their families. Lanae also contributed to a publication through the NCMEC: Family Reunification After a Lengthy Abduction. Lanae holds a master’s in social work from Howard University.
