Attend a Webinar on the New Orleans, Louisiana Police Department’s Ethical Policing is Courageous Program

Join the National Public Safety Partnership (PSP) and the New Orleans, Louisiana Police Department (NOPD) for the webinar “New Orleans Police Department’s Ethical Policing is Courageous Program” on Thursday, June 28 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET. During this webinar, participants will learn about NOPD’s Ethical Policing is Courageous (EPIC) Program, which educates and supports law enforcement officers in the practice of peer intervention.

Through EPIC, NOPD trains officers to use a peer approach to policing in situations when they believe a person is at risk for doing harm to themselves or others, ultimately helping to increase officer wellness. This webinar will review how and why the project started, summarize the training that officers receive through EPIC, discuss challenges faced and lessons learned, and outline how other departments could implement a similar peer intervention program.

Presenters for this webinar will include:

  • Deputy Superintendent Paul Noel, Chief of Operations, NOPD;
  • Lisa Kurtz, Compliance Manager, NOPD; and
  • Officer Terry Bean, EPIC Coordinator, NOPD.
