This 90-minute webinar will introduce participants to the logistical issues that might arise pertaining to accessing facilities equipped for the long-term incarceration of tribal members adjudicated under the Enhanced Sentencing Authority provision of the Tribal Law and Order Act (TL0A). This webinar will:
• Introduce participants to the logistical issues that might arise pertaining to accessing facilities equipped for the long-term incarceration of tribal members.
• Discuss the rights of inmates and inmate access to services/programs.
• Discuss special issues relevant to juvenile detention.
• Discuss the need for reentry planning and programs in the tribal community to facilitate the return of tribal members following a period of incarceration.
• Discuss Section 241(g)(1) of the TLOA pertaining to the development of a long-term plan for the construction, renovation, and operation of juvenile tribal detention and treatment facilities and alternatives to incarceration for juvenile tribal members.
