Free Advanced Crime Prevention Skill-building Training Course in Western Maryland

Hosted by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions, the Maryland Community Crime Prevention Institute, the Maryland Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention, and Garrett College, the Advanced Crime Prevention Course is a three-day course designed for those who work in the law enforcement and crime prevention arena. It provides a comprehensive approach to “opportunity reduction” based crime prevention. Participants will learn how to prepare, understand, and deliver information on advanced topics in crime prevention to their communities. They will learn about various developments and emerging trends in the crime prevention field and understand the types of crime prevention techniques available to address these issues. Participants will also understand how research and current data on crime trends can aid in preventing future crime. The course will be conducted through PowerPoint presentations, lecture, group exercises, and interactive conversation.
