The Center for Court Innovation hosted a one-day regional training workshop in Dallas, Texas, entitled Reinvesting in Justice: What Comes Next? The training covered innovative problem-solving practices that address the problems of chronic low-level offenders. The event was co-hosted by the South Dallas Community Court.

The City of Las Vegas Municipal Court Pretrial Services Unit is seeking training and technical assistance on the use and research of evidence based practices within its pretrial processes. The primary focus of this request is in regards to the implementation and interim use of the PSA-Court risk assessment tool for making Municipal Court pretrial release decisions. It is also our intention to develop and simultaneously conduct our own research and evidence-based data collection, to later be used in the formation of a locally validated version of this assessment tool.

The BYOC training programs provide intensive training to capital defense teams using the proven "Bring-Your-Own-Case" method. Capital defense is an extraordinarily demanding and complex practice that, when done poorly, represents one of the greatest continuing threats to the right to counsel in today’s criminal justice system. A capital case consists not of one trial, but two - a guilt phase and a penalty phase. Because of the irrevocability of capital punishment, capital cases constitutionally demand unique levels of investigation and preparation by defense counsel.
