This regional training workshop drew some 75 attendees from a wide range of practice areas, including judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation officers, court administrators and non-profit service providers. Topics included best practices in procedural justice; risk-needs-responsivity theory and practice; mental illness and the justice system; pretrial diversion; community engagement; and working with unlikely allies to affect change. The average rating of all sessions was 4.3 out of 5, and all participants who filled out evaluations indicated that their level of knowledge increased as a result of attending this training. Solicitations for bids were sent to three hotels in Dallas, TX.
Bids from three hotels were processed, and the Omni Hotel in Dallas was selected based on availability of rooms at the federal per diem and proximity to Dallas City Hall, the event space. The date for the conference has been set for November 12, 2015.
