Bureau of Justice Assistance’s National Drug Court Resource Center is housed at the Justice Programs Office, a center at American University’s School of Public Affairs. The resource center aims to provide drug treatment court practitioners access to a wide variety of resources to make their programs as effective as possible.

Evan Seamone; Session Description: This interactive session will look at the evolution of Veterans Treatment Courts from the perspectives of both practitioners and the researchers, and highlight some of the emerging questions and research revolving around the development of VTCs. Additionally, this session will highlight the importance of research in program sustainability and policy development.

Thurston County is seeking support to:
1) Update a risk tool for their Pretrial Services
2) Train individuals on the risk tool, including representatives from pretrial, court, defense counsel and prosecution; and
3) Develop a Strategic Plan for pretrial supervision, including matrix based on risk assessment.

The conference provides training for the adult and juvenile treatment court teams located throughout the state. Kerwin Henderson of AU presented at a session titled, Veterans Courts National Research. Participants heard about current research regarding veteran treatment courts and will have the opportunity to ask questions about the results of American University's recently-concluded survey.
