IACP hosted a webinar titled "Using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) for Community-Based Crime Reduction" for all sites. IACP sent out invitations prior to the event, as well as a reminder.

IACP reached out to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to acquire CPTED resources to pass along to the site. Stacey Clouse, who works with Dr. Tamara Herold pulled together some resource for the site. In 12/13 IACP passed along some of the resources, although they are a part of a larger CPTED resource package.

Brad Qualley reached out to Bethany to request a contact from the St. Louis team to discuss HALO street cameras. Bethany reached out to Craig Schmidt from St. Louis to request a point of contact to speak to. She was told to reach out to bwfeig@simpd.org, and she made initial contact. Then she circled back to update Brad Qualley.

During regular LISC conversations with CBCR site leadership, we have noticed that sites benefit greatly when hearing about safety strategies from their peers. Specifically, program coordinators (PC) found it beneficial when they spoke with one another. Through monthly PC peer networking calls, LISC wants to increase opportunities for PCs to interact with the full complement of their CBCR peers.

On January 30th, John Connelly led a panel session with Tom Wyatt (Program Coordinator for Flint’s first CBCR site) for the New York Housing Stabilization Fund sites. The panel, Supporting Collaborative Approaches for Safe Places spoke about the importance of developing community-police problem solving teams as a part of their revitalization strategies. John and Tom highlighted the work of Flint’s CBCR efforts around addressing blight by focusing on vacant residential properties, CPTED, Creative Placemaking and community outreach.
