TLPI assisted with agenda development and providing funding for 3 speakers - Carrie Garrow, Korey Wahwassuck and Jennifer Walter - to present on tribal-state collaboration at this national conference.
Jerry Gardner, Kelly Stoner and Chia Halpern assisted the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) with planning and facilitating the tenth in-person Intertribal Technical Assistance Working Group (ITWG) on VAWA Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction over non-Indians meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
TLPI will assist NCAI in bringing Technical Assistance materials which supplement the training areas identified by Gila River Indian Community (GRIC). In addition to the topics the tribe identifies, we will prepare materials concerning including non-Indians in Jury Pools, which GRIC mentioned was a challenge.
Chia Halpern assisted with a call including the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe to discuss their technical assistance needs regarding the implementation of VAWA special domestic violence criminal jurisdiction.
Chia Halpern assisted with a call including the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians to discuss their technical assistance needs regarding the implementation of VAWA special domestic violence criminal jurisdiction.
Kelly Stoner presented at the Chehalis Tribe training on VAWA special domestic violence criminal jurisdiction over non-Indians and TLOA enhanced sentencing authority. She presented on the following topics: drafting tribal codes; mandatory elements for TLOA ESA and VAWA SDVCJ; tribal protection orders and victims' rights.
Jordan Marie Daniel attended the Yurok Tribe Domestic Violence Conference to assist with taking notes and providing TLPI resources for attendees. In particular, TLPI provided copies of the Tribal Code Resource - Tribal Laws: Implementing TLOA Enhanced Sentencing and VAWA Enhanced Jurisdiction.
Jerry Gardner attended the NCAI pre meeting: VAWA Task Force to provide information on TLPI resources and TA available. Jerry shared the TLOA Enhanced Sentencing/VAWA SDVCJ implementing tribes chart with the group and discussed the upcoming VAWA Intertribal Working Group meeting.

Montgomery County needed assistance planning a diversion program for victims of human trafficking. During this reporting period, Center staff began working with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office to plan and implement a new prosecutor-led diversion program oriented around vulnerable young offenders at-risk of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
