From January-April 2024, CJI met regularly with the Governor’s office and Public Safety Secretary Trisha Everest to discuss the status of the JRI effort. During January, CJI worked to disseminate the MODERN Justice Task Force (Task Force) final report and to educate key stakeholders and members of the legislature. After our initial education efforts, toward the end of January, CJI worked to further educate legislators who took an interest in filing Task Force priority legislation. By mid-February, 6 bills had been filed.
