CSG Justice Center staff held an initial call on 4/10 with key DPSCS staff including Assistant Secretary of Programs, Treatment, and Programs Renard Brooks, Reentry and Transition Services Director Ellen Rappaport, and Director of the Community Investment Initiative Tholyn Twyman. Discussed the potential for Reentry 2030 in Maryland and its alignment with ongoing work.

CSG Justice Center staff held a call on 3/1/24 with MN DOC staff Kelley Heifort (Reentry Services Director), Safia Khan (Deputy Commissioner and Chief of Staff), Kelly Mitchell (Assistant Commissioner, Community Services and Reentry), and Kate Erickson (Community Stability Program Director) to discuss Minnesota joining Reentry 2030. CSG team discussed an overview of Reentry 2030. Current priorities include housing, employment, education, and building data capacity as an agency.

CSG Justice Center staff held a call on 2/23/24 with Kat Carter Skinner, Director of Programs and Reentry, Jennifer Seil, Statewide Registered Apprenticeship Coordinator, and Sara Lynch at IDOC to discuss Iowa's Reentry 2030 goals and launch timeline. Iowa has not been able to meet with the Governor's office yet, but is continuing to engage to set up a meeting. They will share examples from the 4 states that have launch as well as their draft work plan. Iowa is interested in including a goal or strategy related to DEI as a follow up to their racial disparity study and report.

In February, Nebraska launched as the fourth Reentry 2030 state. Following North Carolina’s launch and executive order signing in January. In partnership with The Council of State Governments Justice Center, Correctional Leaders Association, JustLeadershipUSA, and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, Nebraska will unite state and local agencies to improve reentry services. Governor Jim Pillen has spearheaded this commitment to Reentry 2030 by proclaiming February 1 as Returning Citizen Reintegration Day.

The CSG Justice Center held a call on 1/2/24 with Danielle Armbruster, Sarah Sytsma, Kylie Corcoran, Chris Wright, and Emily Lovell to discuss Washington State Reentry 2030 launch planned for 1/10/24. Team worked through logistics for launch event and team will conduct run of show on 1/9/24 at the event location. WADOC still working on finalizing the wording of the EO with Gov's office.

CJI is conducting a comprehensive system assessment of North Dakota's criminal justice system. As part of this assessment, CJI data scientists are analyzing quantitative data from the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and from the Court system. This information will be presented to the Working Group in two presentations and will be included alongside qualitative data in CJI's final report.
