CSG Justice Center staff held a call on 5/30/24 with Ricky Dixon, Secretary, Jake Felder, Legislative Affairs Director, and Patrick Mahoney, Director of Programs and Reentry at FDC to discuss Florida joining Reentry 2030. FDC discussed priorities as an agency related to reentry, including thinking about all prisons as reentry centers and coordination with other state agencies. FDC is not interested in joining Reentry 2030 initiative at this time, and cited concern of current funding sources and DEI being polarizing to groups.

CSG Justice Center staff held a call on 5/23/24 with Clint Castleberry, Chief Administrator, Classification and Programs at OKDOC to discuss Oklahoma joining Reentry 2030. Legislative session is taking up a lot of time, and ends 5/30. After session ends, Clint will follow up with some champions in the legislature who have been supporters of reentry efforts in the past. OKDOC needs support of legislature because of their control over the appointment of the Director and Board of Corrections.

CSG staff connected by email with MNDOC team to discuss updates on team's progress. MNDOC team met internally on 5/6/24 and will reconvene the first week of June and will circle back with CSG team then. MNDOC team has given both the Commissioner and the Governor's office a heads up that this is something they are working on and will provide a more definitive timeline after June.

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a follow-up call on 5/30 with Tholyn Twyman and Ellen Rappaport to review their proposed Reentry 2030 goals and begin to plan for a potential Fall 2024 launch.

CSG Justice Center staff held TA calls on 4/5, 4/12, and 4/19 with Nebraska team including Dawn Renee Smith (Deputy Director – Programs), Janee Pannkuk (Assistant Deputy Director – Reentry), Malisa Kringle (Case Management Coordinator), Daniel Sloup (Assistant Deputy Director of Classification), Anthony Britten (Reentry Program Manager) to plan the creation of a statewide Reentry taskforce to work on Reentry 2030 goals. This included the development of working groups, their membership, and scopes of work.

CSG Justice Center staff held a call on 4/2/24 with Clint Castleberry, Chief Administrator, Classification and Programs at OKDOC and CSG staff to discuss Oklahoma joining Reentry 2030. Current agency priorities related to reentry include providing identification upon release, increasing workforce training during incarceration that match opportunities available in the community, reestablishing state reentry commission, supporting family connections and reducing hurdles to maintaining relationships during reentry, and supporting people with substance abuse treatment through reentry.

CSG Justice Center staff held a call on 4/11/24 with Kelley Heifort (Reentry Services Director), Safia Khan (Deputy Commissioner and Chief of Staff), Kelly Mitchell (Assistant Commissioner, Community Services and Reentry), and Kate Erickson (Community Stability Program Director) at MNDOC and CSG Staff to discuss Minnesota joining Reentry 2030. MNDOC is interested in using Reentry 2030 as an opportunity to highlight, coordinate, and align current efforts and goals.
